I can see the appeal, though I like the idea of using svn $Version:$ tags for this. Considering that Nmap ships with about 50 NSE scripts and that number is sure to grow, I don't want to deal with keeping individual version numbers up-to-date for each of them. For out-of-tree scripts, people can put their own version number in comments, or a variable, or wherever they think is appropriate.
