That would be like an IXP but for email. Or an IXP but for web traffic. VPNs are an application that run over IP, and IXPs are interconnection locations for IP traffic. So you don't need to worry about what you're worrying about. Nor, for instance, do the VoIP people. Ahem. -Bill
