what is "nat compliant?"

RFC 3235 discusses how to make your application work in the Internet
reality that exists today, with NAT boxes everywhere. The document is
entitled, "Network Address Translator (NAT)-Friendly Application Design
Guidelines."

http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3235.txt

This was a product of the IETF NAT Working Group, published in 2002.

Note though that this document provides guidance, not compliancy
requirements. Nonetheless, application developers can find useful
information on how to avoid problems.
