Reply-To: geoff () iconia com dave, forwarded to you with permission of mike grant for IP if you wish: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Michael Grant Date: Wed, Mar 25, 2009 at 9:36 PM Subject: vonage To: Geoff Goodfellow Vonage has this newish thing where you can upload your contacts and then use it for speed dial stuff. They even have a voice recognition engine that can be used for speed dial. Interesting I thought. I'm not sure I trust Vonage with my contacts though. A little research on their website and sure enough, when you upload your contacts, you give them permission to use them for their marketing. It's quite clear but it's buried in their privacy policy. It's no surprise, but I do wonder how many have unwittingly used this. Go here: http://www.vonage.com/support.php?keyword=ContactBook Then, at the bottom, click on the FAQ. Then go to the bottom, and look at: Will Vonage share my information with third parties? For details about how we treat your information, please review Vonage's Privacy Policy. Then click on the Privacy Policy and read the section "Use of Information". It says clearly that they will use your information for marketing. -Mike ------------------------------------------- Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/247/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/247/ Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
