Vonage has this newish thing where you can upload your contacts and
then use it for speed dial stuff. They even have a voice recognition
engine that can be used for speed dial. Interesting I thought. I'm
not sure I trust Vonage with my contacts though.

A little research on their website and sure enough, when you upload
your contacts, you give them permission to use them for their
marketing. It's quite clear but it's buried in their privacy policy.
It's no surprise, but I do wonder how many have unwittingly used this.

Go here: http://www.vonage.com/support.php?keyword=ContactBook
Then, at the bottom, click on the FAQ.
Then go to the bottom, and look at: Will Vonage share my information
with third parties?
For details about how we treat your information, please review
Vonage's Privacy Policy.
Then click on the Privacy Policy and read the section "Use of
Information". It says clearly that they will use your information for
marketing.

-Mike
