Ever wonder why?
Well, here's one reason: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/13/transition.questionnaire/index.html and here's the list of questions: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/11/13/obamaquestionnaire.pdf.pdfI know that many of us have gotten to where we are because we have been controversial at times, and unafraid to espouse an unpopular opinion and take a stand. Apparently, those are big negatives for jobs with the Executive Branch.
Plus, to list every electronic communication and contents of every talk I have ever given? Ha! I don't even remember them from a few months ago! I can't imagine it is much different for most of you. And I don't know anyone who has kept copies of all their public talks and presentations.
Needless to say, I am shocked at the extent and level of detail they are requesting to even consider someone for a position. And given the news that their campaign was hacked in the past, and the White House network has been regularly hacked from outside, how comfortable should someone be in providing all this highly-personal information online?
From a privacy and security point of view, this is rather grim. It also seems stacked against getting the best and brightest to work for the government!
That said, if any of you are interested in a position with the new administration, you can apply online via www.change.org (see near the bottom of the page).
