One has to suspect that Ray Kurzweil, like his arch-promoter George Gilder, has a "rapturous" religious motivation in this techno- eschatology.

Apart from that caveat, he has no idea how to measure what humans actually do and, therefore, no basis for making comparisons to machines.

MIPS!!  Ha!!  Talk about the ultimate "benchmarking" challenge!!
