Reply-To: wb8foz () nrk com more: TALLAHASSEE, Fla., July 29 (UPI) -- Despite the support for voter reform in Florida's Republican administration, the state GOP has sent out a warning about touch-screen voting machines. The Republican party advised Miami voters to use absentee ballots because there is no paper trail for touch screens and they can't "verify your vote." Democrats have been making that argument for months, but Gov. Jeb Bush, his elections director and Republican legislators insist that it's wrong. The mailer from the Republican party of Florida said: "The liberal Democrats have already begun their attacks and the new electronic voting machines do not have a paper ballot to verify your vote in case of a recount. Make sure your vote counts. Order your absentee ballot today." A coalition of groups have filed a lawsuit trying to force state elections officials to establish a way for manual recounts of touch-screen results. ------------------------------------- You are subscribed as interesting-people () lists elistx com To manage your subscription, go to http://v2.listbox.com/member/?listname=ip Archives at: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/
