US terror claims may hit $100bn Paul DurmanTHE cost of rebuilding in New York and Washington, and of compensating the families of the thousands of people killed and injured in the attacks, could be as high as $100 billion (£68 billion), according to B&W Deloitte, the leading actuarial consultancy.
A loss on this scale would be five times as much as the cost of Hurricane Andrew, which devastated Florida in 1992 and caused the previous biggest claim on the insurance industry.
