This contains updates to a variety of legislation designed to give police powers to wiretap, surveill, etc. WRT crypto, it contains the clauses regarding the requirement for people to produce keys to decrypt information if notified to do so that were deleted from the Electronic Communications (formerly Electronic Commerce) bill. These clauses failed a Human Rights audit commissioned by the Foundation for Information Policy Research because they essentially shift the burden of proof onto the (presumed) innocent. In addition, the bill would require ISPs to install equipment to allow monitoring of their customers. The bill is at http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm199900/cmbills/064/2000064.htm Foundation for Information Policy Research's analysis is at http://www.fipr.org The Campaign Against Censorship of the Internet in Britain's comments are at http://www.liberty.org.uk/cacib/artview.php3?currentgroup=0&pid=77&type=n ews I should have a news story in the Telegraph on Thursday (http://www.telegraph.co.uk) wg
