And just to address Tomas's point about the water temperature, I'll point you to an article in this morning's "Sydney Morning Herald": http://www.smh.com.au/environment/conservation/nemo-and-pals-take-the-fish-highway-south-20090711-dgp3.html "SYDNEY is set for an increase in colourful tropical fish as a changing climate warms our waters. " Apparently, it's already the case that tropical fish are being found further south in the East Australia Current, even in winter, due to the water temperature increasing.
