Nice sleuthing! I was afraid this tactic could be used as a potential weapon of mass annoyance aimed at public mailing list operators and their contributors. Still this might not be a bad thing as one side effect would be to eventually drive the troll community's mailboxen to grow outside their mandated limits via ps () leds de bounces. Another unintended benefit would be that the lurkers would finally triumph in being recipients of the least amount of noise on any list from a statistical point of view. (mostly due to the fact that contributors arent able to count their own personal posts or successive flames as "noise". In addition to citing prior art from the classic bugtrack/outlook-out-of-office-auto-responder DDoS, future authors of weapons of mass annoyance must remember to give credit where credit is due: not only Symantec but also a n3td3v googlegroup. -JP<who autoresponds with Hillary Clinton quotes to achieve the same effect> _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
