RE: VoIP mangling

A patent application from German company Infineon reveals a
technology for deliberately interfering with internet telephony transmissions - or "voice over IP" (VoIP). A friend of mine who is a telecom analyst says "All the big vendors had stuff in their gear to selectively disable or degrade a competitor's VoIP service. I was at an Alcatel consultant liaison conference where some officer bragged how their box was a natural for telcos who wanted to screw cable operators and independent VoIP providers. That was three years ago. Infineon probably has a different way of doing it, hence patentable. Their clients must be telcos who never, ever like competition. This will build toward an anti-trust case in a few years if the industry has the guts to challenge these large companies."
