I wasn't entirely fair, maybe. A lot of MI* activity tends to be ascribed or footnoted to police operations, and maybe I've had a lot of practice at reading between the lines. It's common knowledge (meaning it was in the papers, on TV etc.) that a lot of the intelligence about recent bomb-making activities, threats to air-travel
etc. derived from the security services.
The really interesting question is not whether MI* is doing anything, but whether they're doing anything apart from run around in panicky circles. But that's not a question you should restrict to UK security
services.
I appreciate your level-headedness!
At any rate, don't you also wonder what they are doing that is different
than what the CIA/NSA are accused of doing? If
its all really up to public debate, and MI* groups are having more success
than another, seems it would be a worthy
discussion to see what rights we're willing to give up for that level of
safety - world wide! Stop drinking the kool aid. You are not talking about what rights people are willing to give up for any level of safety. TSA has shown you are talking about what rights people are willing to give up for an ignorant, unfounded perception of level of safety. Pure Political BS. What you are talking about is how far a government will acquiesce terrorism to make ignorant, scared sheep fell secure in actions that have zero, or approaching zero security increase.
