could retrofit the 5150B with a HD, though. That model would have been 81
still, or maybe 82. I don't know if you could have bought a HD for it then. You couldn't buy one from IBM, but my company in '83 had some 5150Bs with external HDs (massive 5MB models; Convergent Technologies?), but this all may have been on DOS 2.0. Somewhat later I owned a genuine PC for which I bought a 20MB internal HD running off a 3rdparty controller.
