A quick note to congratulate NFR, and specifically Marcus J. Ranum, for the exceptional engineering on the Network Flight Recorder product. An outstanding article was written in the latest issue of Network Magazine about the reality of intrusion detection systems (http://www.networkmagazine.com/magazine/current/9907def.htm). Network Magazine says "Of the systems tested, only Network Flight Recorder (NFR, www.nfr.net) has been written to correctly maintain TCP state and reassemble packets so that it would now succeed in the tests. The remainder of the network-based IDSs still work much the way as they did over two years ago." NFR is a bar none IDS. Check it out for yourself. It's worth the read. Thanks Marcus.
