Hi, I am preparing several NT servers for the internet, after hardening them I reach a point where any Microsoft Setup.exe will not run giving me an error message that they are not valid NT applications. I am following an HP document for hardening which I can email in pdf format. Is it the removal of Posix, os2 etc or Lls reg editing? any ideas would be appreciated...
Hi. A copy of the document would be great so I can try to help you narrow down the problem. My first guess would be the registry editing that you have done. Removing the POSIX and OS/2 subsystems shouldn't interfere with any applications, in fact for C2 certification they need to be removed. Anyway, try to get a copy of that PDF to me and I can try to figure out what might have caused your boxes to malfunction. kts -- Kevin T.
