hi Axel, the firewall is blocking the ports you need open for Voice over IP... You will need to determine what port(s) r being used via the apps in ?n Then request opening of those ports. It really doesn't matter that it is *nix fw as that is what a fw does. When it comes to netmeeting no sane fw admin on this planet is going to allow you to run it. It is very insecure ... solution run netscapes version which doesn't open up to the world so much. To have then open up for nm is as good as ! having a fw. Good luck and email me the solution as am interested in what is resolved. Regards, dreamwvr () dreamwvr com At 11:50 PM 11/6/98 +0100, Axel Husung wrote:
Hi participants, I have a big problem. My Provider set a Firewall up one week ago. I ran different Internet Telephone Software like Vocaltec IP 5, Voxphone and Netmeeting. After setting up a firewall, I don´t get any connection to ICQ and the other programmes. Is there any possiblity to use Voice-over-IP via a Firewall ? Or isn´t is possible to run those programmes? The University runs a UNIX system. Help is needed urgently. TIA, AXel
