I was curious about what you said. I found this article. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/manage-graduating-student-licenses-and-content-in-microsoft-365-education-ba3142c7-fa7d-46d2-9efd-f1ee751cd400 basically If the institution wishes to maintain the email for alumni they can. But keeping the specific student license is not part of the deal. This part below is FREE part that may be what was referenced by our Vendor regarding alumni. * Inform students that after moving documents out of their school OneDrive for work or school, they can continue to access and edit with free Office for the web after leaving school. That was brought up if we wanted to setup Alumni constituency to allow users to keep some of the office365 components. Its my understanding that it is free but you as the institution would still have to manage it. As of now our leadership does not wish to implement this for alumni because its just one more thing that would require us to manage and maintain. As part of our migration/merge of tenants, we are also automating the provision and de-provision of the office licensing for the accounts. This is something that we have outsourced and the project just started. Our first phase is to combine the tenants , second phase is to automate provisioning then final phase is to migrate our current single sign on to the azure platform and implement MFA. For those that let them keep their account, specifically in office365, how do you handle licensing? Do you add to your employee count to cover those licenses?
