Re: [EXT] [SECURITY] Conference in April -- concerns?

Although I can’t attend the conference due to an overlapping conference, I’ve been watching the situation. I don’t believe there is any cause for concern at this time. The current infection rate is artificially low and mortality rate artificially low due to how early we are in the outbreak. There have been 9 deaths in Washington state, all with underlying health issues. The cluster of cases in California are all connected to a cruise ship. 50% of all CONFIRMED cases of COVID-19 have completely recovered. This doesn’t include any cases where a person was infected, didn’t know it, or wasn’t tested. Cruise ships are a good cross section of the population. Of the 2,500 on the cruise ship off California, only 21 have symptoms. The man that just died had underlying health problems. It is certainly a situation worth monitoring, but I don’t see anything that tells me anything needs to change. The virus originated in an area of China where there is a dense population and VERY unsanitary meat markets. There is a reason that all these outbreaks are originating in China. Hi all, I am wondering if anyone else is concerned about attending the security professionals conference next month. With everything going on in Washington state, I am more than a little nervous about taking unnecessary risks by traveling there. Best, Teresa Banks [cid:image002.jpg@01D5F2D6.24ED9210] Teresa E.
