Hi Frank,

We strongly encourage program committee members to attend the conference the year prior to serving on the committee
since this experience is beneficial and can help our volunteers better understand the conference planning process and
the program, as well as the needs of the community when next year’s program is developed.

In general, we also expect program committee members to attend the conference that they are helping to plan – so
volunteers for the 2019 conference can hopefully join us in Chicago.

Note that we also have an opportunity for adjunct proposal reviewers to join the program committee each fall. This
requires a shorter time commitment (approx. 2-3 months) during the proposal evaluation process. Adjunct proposal
reviewers are not expected to attend the conference. If you are interested in doing this, you could make a note in the
form under “Please share why you would like to join the SEC19 program committee.”

Thank you,
Valerie

While I am interested, I would not be able to travel to MD, would that be a hinderance?

Valerie does a great job with this group. While I was a member I learned a lot and got to work with wonderful dedicated
people. I would strongly recommend getting involved. The conference is fantastic.

Greetings,

We will soon be selecting program committee members for the 2019 Security Professionals Conference. If you would like
to be a part of the continuing tradition of this unique event, we encourage you to volunteer!

Program committee members include information security and privacy professionals (of all ranks and titles) from a
diverse range of institutions. The 2019 program committee will hold its first meeting at the 2018 Security
Professionals Conference in Baltimore, MD, during breakfast on Thursday, April 12. Thereafter, the program committee
will continue to meet monthly via conference call. The 2019 conference will be held May 13-15, 2019 in Chicago, IL.

To volunteer, please complete this brief Security 2019 volunteer form<https://goo.gl/forms/8Cws7h9uLpJDqbsA3>. (Note:
This link will take you to a Google form.)

Priority consideration will be given to candidates who volunteer by Wednesday, January 10, 2018. We will notify
selected volunteers in early February.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you and happy holidays!
Valerie
