SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for BOYD

I was wondering to know if anyone has a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) in place for students or anyone for that matter registering their devices when attached to your network. Also, how do you monitoring and protecting active ports from rogue devices attaching to them. As an example, a port that is enabled for HP printer on VLANx not allowed to be used by a laptop to gain access to the network; etc. I really appreciate if you have document or policy that can be accessible.
