If you run into the problem on new installations or as part of an
multi-application deployment and you do PROPER TESTING FIRST (did I
stress this enough?), you can also remove the LaunchCondition value from
the MSI that checks this registry key. Remember, Symantec put in that
check for a reason, but you also may have a good reason to avoid it.

Use a program like Orca, InstEd, or if you have money InstallSheild and
open the SEP MSI. Remove this row from the LaunchCondition table:
"NOT (REBOOTREQUIREDOSAUTOUPDATE = "1") [ProductName] has detected that
there are pending system changes that require a reboot. Please reboot
the system and rerun the installation."

As part of application deployments, you sometimes have to kill launch
condition checks that use MSI custom actions, as those custom actions
sometimes don't work right in automated deployments.

If non of the above makes any sense to you, you're not alone and
continue about your business.

Google for this little program, "cleanwipe.exe".

We encounter the message below when installing Symantec Endpoint
Protection, however the reboot does not resolve the installation
issue. The current resolution is to go into the Registry Editor and
do a Find command on “PendingFileRenameOperations”, then delete the
instances of this key. Has anyone found a better solution?
