Re: Best Preparation Materials for the CISSP Exam?

I agree 100% with Shon Harris' book. It is THE bible as far as CISSP prep
is concerned.

I had an extensive network and DR/BC background, but minimal exposure in the
other domains, so I started my prep work by reading the CISSP for Dummies
book. It is remarkably well written, and gave me a great foundation to
build on with the Harris book. I certainly wouldn't recommend the Dummy
book as your only prep tool, but I found it to be very useful.

I tried to read for 30-60 minutes, 3 days a week, for about 3 months prior
to the exam, then really hit it hard on the areas I knew I was weaker in
over the last 2 weeks. They don't tell you what your score was if you
passed, but when I left the exam I only felt there were 10-15 questions I
didn't know as soon as I read them.

I actually took a slightly different path.

I studied the CISSP books and the Security+ book and took the TruSecure
TICSA test just for practice, passed it and got the cert (no longer
available). I then went to a week long training class for the cert and it
really didn’t help (although it did help me answer one question on PKI). I
spent the Friday night at the end of the class studying the CISSP books and
the Security+ book and passed the CISSP exam on Saturday.

I found the Shon Harris CISSP Exam guide, the blue and gold fourth edition
and the Official (ISC) guide from ISC Press to be of great value. Good luck

I used the Krutz and Vines book. There are lots of practice questions after
each chapter and in the back. It takes a ton of dedication. I drove my
family nuts for weeks on end. Good luck to you!

Hi All,

Does anybody have suggested materials (Books, CDs, etc.) for preparing for
the CISSP exam?

Thanks,
