I'd recommend looking at Bastille Linux (http://www.bastille-linux.org/), a tool which will help you harden linux and teach you all about what it's doing at the same time. It also leaves up to the user the decision making process, so you can customize the hardening to your needs. Also, it is scriptable, and hardening scripts can be replayed on many machines, allowing for scalability. On Wed, 11 Oct 2006 19:55:15 -0400, Tim Lane <tlane () SCU EDU AU> wrote:
Hi, I am looking for relatively high level 'checklist' style guidelines for Linux (and variants) OS hardening. I envisage a 1-2 page checklist of principles plus some specific more technical recommendations. Would anyone have this sort of guideline documented that they would be able to forward to me? Much appreciated if anyone can help.
