Hello, Attached a research paper presented in 2003 regarding FERPA and privacy concerns for students. While specific institutions are not identified, thought you might be interested in the results of the survey of 'directory information' on 60 US universities from 50 states and DC. regards, -DM Orrick ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Diana Mayer Orrick email: orrick () acns fsu edu Academic Computing & Network Services ph: (850) 644-2591 Florida State University fax: (850) 644-8722 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Mon, 6 Jun 2005, Michael G Carr wrote:
Looking for public institutions that (a) do not explicitly have eMail Address listed as public directory information in their FERPA policy for students or employees, and (b) have, nonetheless, decided to display eMail address in their web "people search" utilities. Question(s): 1. Do/did you consider eMail Address a form of work address and, therefore, feel that FERPA policy changes were not necessary or warranted? 2. Do/did you have any concerns over eMail Address harvesting? Thanks, Michael G.
