I might suggest that the Task Force review the Minimum Security Benchmarks created by the Center for Internet Security (www.cisecurity.org). There are benchmarks and scanning tools for Windows XP/2000/NT, Solaris, Linux, HPUX, Cisco and Oracle. They are free for anyone to use. It is a consensus of NIST, NSA, commercial companies (1st Union, Bank of America, Shell), Edus (Va Tech, Stanford) and .gov (DOD, DOJ, AF, etc.). I think we need to make sure this Task Force draft doesn't conflict with the CIS benchmarks. -r. ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Discussion Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/cg/.
