The names, social security numbers and other personal information of about 8,000 state employees could be compromised, though there is no evidence that info has made it into the wrong hands. It just never made it into the right ones. The potential problem came to light when a torn and empty envelope from the company that manages the state's health savings account program arrived by U.S. mail.
