Ya, they don't care because its a lossy file anyways, and iirc, you can only burn the song so many times. I wonder if they are able to obtain stats on how many people burn music downloaded from iTunes, and at that, how many people burn it onto a audio cd rather than a data cd. But why would you buy from iTunes anyways, buying something you don't really own just seems silly to me. I'd rather take my chances buying the cd, then atleast I have a real copy of the music that I can do whatever with, without any built in restrictions, and I won't buy audio cd's that have built in drm either. -miah Free your iPod, install rockbox! http://www.rockbox.org/ On Sun, Jul 09, 2006 at 09:43:33PM -0400, Dave Aitel wrote:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 So my question of the day is this. If two different people buy the same song from iTunes, and then both of them burn it to CD, and then both of them rip it into a 44K raw file (say, a .wav), is it different? Apple seems very blase about the ability of consumers to break their copy protection this way, and I don't believe it's because burning to CD's takes time and energy. I believe it's because they can track down large violations on super-distribution systems (kazaa, etc) to individuals. Of course, I could be wrong. Someone would have to do the test and find out. - -dave -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2.2 (MingW32) iD8DBQFEsbDCtehAhL0gheoRAsgPAJ4rim0fC3dmXQgMbhUl2vJpivg1uwCdEfn3 AXCrVukwMijCht0ZeKvfXy8= =JFe7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Dailydave mailing list Dailydave () lists immunitysec com http://lists.immunitysec.com/mailman/listinfo/dailydave
