A fallacious agrument. The same one made by Michael Moore in "Bowling for Columbine". The right-wingers make the same type of fallacious agrument by extreme example vis-a-vis abortion; war on (drugs|deadbeat dads|terror|whatever) Sure, active malware authors need to be stopped. The other extreme is just as dis-tasteful. Just say know.
I quite agree, but currently, even if we don't like them, these lines are put forth by democratic governments (the ones we discussed anyway)/ Would you rather it be any other way? Please elaborate.
Things might move slowly, but that is why we can influence and things do move ahead. The anarchists might claim differently, and I'd believe them... but I kind of like living in relative safety and order *in comparison to the 11th century or maybe the wild west[1] - people always give that example).
Gadi.[1] wild west: I wonder how taking the law into the citizens hands might look like on the Internet? And I am not just talking about abuse email, evidence collecting and the gray issues. Government don't seem very capable.
