have stomped on some important kernel data structure.

Opinions?  Confirmations?  Specific kernel code snippets with explanations
(for those that don't hack that particular system's kernel)?


Not in the Linux case. The bug was (and I suspect is in some other cases)
a 16bit/32bit value problem.
