PWB and the resulting cert is and is not really just a course. Typically the 950,- $ will buy you the course material and 2 month of lab time. Some time is spend on the course part, but most of the time is spent trying harder, studying and experimenting to solve challenges. A fairly well versed IT security guy will spend around 450 hours during the 2 month of lab time. You can buy extension month if you need them. The reason this training is so good and valuable is the time you spent, the frustration you meed, the challenges you struggle to get through. If you treat it like a course and spent a minimum of time, you will fail the cert and not get enough out of the potential TRY HARDER Regards Kim Guldberg
Hi - reference to OSCP - how long/ duration is the course typically? Thanks Henry On 8/29/2012 8:01 AM, Duane Dunston wrote:I believe the OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Pen-tester) training is the best available. You have videos to introduce you to the topics and lots of extra challenges. If you don't do the extra challenges, then the final may be difficult. You are given a full virtual environment with your own systems to hack up and learn in. With the final, you are given 24 hours to capture the flag. Also, you have to document everything you do, which you'll be doing during the training, and submit it for review before being granted your certification. Also, it starts around $700, which I think is extremely low for the value. However, I hope they keep it that way. # They have additional training, as well. http://www.offensive-security.com/information-security-training/ I like the Keycomputers online forensic training (though it is more law enforcement centered so you won't learn malware analysis), but you'll have a strong and solid foundation in sound forensic practices and learn a whooooooole lot. Additionally, you are assigned a mentor throughout the course and have to complete the exams to the mentors satisfaction before moving to the next module. Their training will prepare you for the Certified Computer Examiner certification from the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners. http://www.cftco.com/ On Wed, Aug 29, 2012 at 7:21 AM, a bv <vbavbalist () gmail com> wrote:Hi, I would like to ask your opinion about the best online pentest and forensics trainings you know.
