Hi,
I have not taken excalt gsec but i have gone for gcih.

Most of the SANS exams are of open book.so, i recommend you prepare an index(topic vs whichbook vs which page) of 
various topics on your system. when ever you encounter a question abt specific topic, you quickly search for it(F3), 
instead of searching all the books. This reduces time.
