You can do this if you like - but then you'll most likely receive - what some would call - an interesting night time visit from some tall guys in dark suits, dark sun glasses. A much better approach would be to contact your hosting business representative, ask them for their most recent security audit, if they don't have one, refuse to provide one, or the one they provide is more than 12 months old - take you business elsewhere. Decent relatively secure web hosting companies are cheaper than a dime a dozen these days. Good luck. -----Original Message----- From: listbounce () securityfocus com [mailto:listbounce () securityfocus com] On Behalf Of Marty Resnick Sent: Monday, December 10, 2007 09:36 To: security-basics Subject: pen test Am I able to pen test or run a vulnerability assessment on my web hosting company. I got the idea after reading this article. http://www.securitypark.co.uk/Security_article.asp?articleid=260173 -- Marty Resnick Techmaking Inc.
