Security+ will earn you a waiver of 1 year's experience to qualify for
CISSP. See web link:

If you have a college degree and Security+ as your foundation, you'll
need only 2 more years of work experience in information security
before qualifying for CISSP.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Security+ is really a good starting point.
