I wouldn't say that transmitting malware onto a network via these mobile devices is 'easy' (at least, not yet) however they are certainly an attack vector that you should consider. Ensure that adequate malware detection and removal exists on all workstations and pay close attention to the mobile device configuration: - PIN protected - disposed of securely - encrypted media - strong passwords - etc It is very easy to lose said devices and put lots of sensitive information at risk given expanded memory capacity, etc). Lastly, various antivirus vendors are releasing mobile versions of their software: - McAfee VirusScan PDA Enterprise - AirScanner Mobile Antivirus - Symantec Nortan Antivirus for Handhelds - Kaspersky Security for PDAs - F-Secure Mobile Anti-virus - etc flurdoing --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This list is sponsored by: Norwich University EARN A MASTER OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION ASSURANCE - ONLINE The NSA has designated Norwich University a center of Academic Excellence in Information Security.
