Zack,

Personally I think a reverse proxy is a sound layer of defense.  Additionally, you have many options for Reverse Proxy. 
 While IIS doesn't have the ability out of the box, MS ISA Server 2004/2006 do provide this functionality.  Also, it 
can be done via Apache and Squid.

Perhaps one of the best ways of performing a Reverse Proxy, however, is through an appliance such as BlueCoat's SG 
series.
