Excellent, cheap tool that has just enough configuration options.  They
have a trial version as well available.  Check out:

We have been using it for audits and it works nicely.

Microsoft's "MOM" is about the only monitoring tool that is enterprise
ready; however, it's not that good or simple. Net-IQ with MOM is about
