I think you should consider a gateway/proxy option as this does not limit you to solutions that can be installed on Mac OS X Servers. Which solution to consider would depend on what you want to achieve. Here are some key considerations to look into. 1) Do you want an all-in-one box that provides firewall and content security features or separate boxes to cater to each requirement? 2) Do you want best-of-breed solutions? What specific content security issues are you concerned with? Content security is broad and could include mobile code scanning, spam filtering, IM monitoring, URL filtering, SSL scanning, virus scanning, SSL scanning, etc. 3) Do you want to cache web content as well? 4) Is your organisation willing to allow the installation of anti-spam software on your SMTP server? 5) Number of users and amount of traffic to manage 6) Budget There are many names that I can throw into the hat: Webwasher, Finjan, Blue Coat, NetCache, IronPort, Barracuda, Trend Micro, Fortinet, Marshall, Symantec, Websense, McAfee. The list is endless. So how you reduce this huge list is by defining your requirements.
