Thanks for replying, Ray. To answer your questions: - The new SSID is only about 6-8 characters long and did not contain any non-standard symbols or characters. - Wireless NIC's on both devices are standard Dell TruMobile 1300. Hardware is working optimally. Didn't have any issues with them upon connection to any other wireless network. Lynn suggested I call Linksys again, so I will likely try that. If I have no luck, I will just move on with my life...I'll use it as is, until the WAP or my work is over and is asked to see the Great 011100110111000001101001011100100110100101110100 in the sky... No biggie, but if you have any further suggestions or questions, let me know. Thanks to all for your help! Is the new SSID exceptionally long or contain non-standard characters? You also did not mention the make of the one or more wireless nics that are having trouble with the new SSID. Maybe you problem is client side and not with the access point -----Original Message----- From: Joe George [mailto:j.george () conservation org] Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 11:19 AM To: security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: question: Linksys 54G WAP - SSID name change issue Hi all, I don't know if any of you are familiar with this issue or not, but at home, when I change the SSID, I have at least one wireless device which has an inconsistent connection. It connects and later drops, but eventually re-connects again and repeats itself. If I change it back to the default, no problem. I have updated the firmware, and searched through Linksys website for information about this problem, but it persists. Linksys tech support changing my antenna position, but that didn't help. Any suggestions or solutions?
