XP/2003 have new features for the netstat utility, like the -b switch: -b Displays the executable involved in creating each connection or listening port. In some cases well-known executables host multiple independent components, and in these cases the sequence of components involved in creating the connection or listening port is displayed. In this case the executable name is in [] at the bottom, on top is the component it called, and so forth until TCP/IP was reached. Note that this option can be time-consuming and will fail unless you have sufficient permissions. On 4/13/05, Robert Hines <b.hines () comcast net> wrote:
Not the most eloquent, Set the view in windows task manager to show PID, and match it to results of netstat -ao, at least you can get an association to the running processes, and ports this way. I am sure there is a better tool though. Do you know of a software package that is an fport equivalent that works on Windows Server 2003? I could use netstat.exe but was hoping for something a little more informative.
