Hi;
He's talking about webbugs (or pixeltag), you can embed a dynamic <image> to
HTML e-mails.

For example;
        <img src="http://yourserver.com/webbug/"; width="0" height="0">

So when e-mail received you can log active IP, time etc.

Also if you make some google searches about "webbug","web bug","pixeltag",
you can find more info.
