Just a side note, remember FreeBSD is Unix, not Linux ;-) similar but not the same. As for redhat, I have enjoyed the distro until the latest commercialization. Since then I have moved to suse. We will have to see if the whole novell thing changes them to much. Blake Wiedman Icons Inc. I have tried other distros and found them to be useful and as solid as a brick for the most part. I have just about tried everyone of them from FreeBSD to slackware to mandrake to debian... I keep comming back to redhat though..... RedHat is, However, getting a little to commercial for me though so, I am thinking of switching over to the FreeBSD group... I hear that it is the most stable and secure distro... Anyhow have a good time wading through every 1's opinion and I wish you a slow growth in this the *nix life you are choosing. Have fun! I'm in the same position as you. One would think Mandrake or Redhat, but I was told, and I suggest jumping right in with something a little
harder then the start point. Kind of like playing a game for the first
time. If you play the hardest diffuculty setting right when you start then you are accusstomed to that level of gameplay whereas someone else would have another learning curve moving up. Try Slackwear and/or
Knoppix STD. I'm new myself so someone else may offer better advice.
