What do you mean by Physical layer ? AFAIK, when you talk about wireless, you don't have any security at the physical layer without having a wired gate and manned security outside your building patroling the streets to make sure no one is driving by with a laptop and a wireless card :) Thats exactly why wireless is less secure than all other means of communication. If you are really paranoid about wireless security, look for LEAP/PEAP authentication on google. rkt -----Original Message----- From: Akash Malhotra [mailto:akash () me umn edu] Sent: Tuesday, March 18, 2003 1:59 PM To: security-basics () securityfocus com Subject: Wireless Device Security Hi All, I have a question about security in wireless system. 1> Is it possible for me to have AES encryption in physical layer. I dont want to have any kind of security feature at the MAC layer. 2> Will this reduce power consumption( battery will last longer) Comments are welcome !!! -akash
