If the aplication supports it, tell it the source address you want to use. (line traceroute or nmap). It it doesn't, then, if you want to access remote irc servers with a secondary IP, you could arrange a set of iptables (or similar) rules for that. -- Arturo "Buanzo" Busleiman - www.buanzo.com.ar - GNU/Linux Documentation GNU's es_AR Team Leader - PGP/GnuPG Key available at horowitz.surfnet.nl Casilla de eMail _GRATIS_ de 21Mb Webmail/POP/IMAP/SMTP en www.daleclick.com On Tue, 19 Aug 2003, Vineet Mehta wrote:
I have 5 IP's on my server configured as IP alising with only one Interface. Whenever i make connection outside say for www, pop3, whatever, the main IP is being used to make connections to the foreign server. What if, i want to use other IP's (on my server) on my choice to make outside connections? Can this be done?? if yes then how? One sol i think is that change the default eth0 Ip and use others as aliases. but this requires manual steps.
