IMHO neither is secure. The inherant 'Always On' nature of both connection makes them problematic. Also, since these are used primarily in the home or by small businesses AND neither tends to install security patches, the level of INsecurity is greatly increased. Primarily because of the 'Always On' issue, both types of connections need to have a firewall immediately behind the Cable or DSL modem to isolate the inside environment. Most of the Cable/DSL routers have simple 'Deny All' firewalls integrated into the devices and are reasonably inexpensive.
