PS: it's my first report: should I have filled a bug in bugzilla, instead?

That's probably the best place, as it puts the problem in a repository where it can be kept track of more easily (so 
that if it gets "forgotten", at least it shows up when you search for open bugs, rather than being an e-mail amongst 
many others), allows fixes to be connected with the bug, and makes it easier to report "we fixed XXX in 2.2.7".

But thanks for the report in any case.
