Details can be found here: https://www.wireshark.org/tools/modelines.html, but yes its essentially how the file is 
configured so editors know how to treat it.
 
You can use the generator from the link above or you can copy/paste from an existing source file. Just make sure the 
modeline data from the file you copy matches your file(s).
