Hi Gents,

I compared the no of plugin’s in wireshark release 1.12.3 and 1.6.7. Also
found that the no of plug-in are much less in 1.12.3. Below is screenshot

Hi,

Some of those plugins were converted to built-in dissectors, that's why you
do not see them anymore.
Then you have a custom plugin for UPP in your old installation folder. This
plugin is not part of the official Wireshark 1.6.7.
So if you want to upgrade to a newer Wireshark release (like 1.12.3) you
must ask to this plugin author to provide you an updated version compatible
with the Wireshark version you installed (you cannot simply drop the dll in
the new installation folder as the dll will not be compatible and might
make Wireshark crash).

Regards,
Pascal.

Hi Gents,

Thanks for the response.

From the provided link, i got the below answer

“Wireshark does not provide a UPP dissector though, unless you have a
custom version / plugin.”

I believe UPP plug-in is possible but some custom way. Can you please
provide me that custom way so that I can use the latest wireshark. J

I am confused with the two release of wireshark at a time (1.12.3 and

1.10.12) Can anyone of you please confirm which one is latest and
recommended.

      http://wiki.wireshark.org/Development/LifeCycle

"The Wireshark download page lists three types of releases: Stable, Old
Stable, and Development.

      * The Stable release is the latest official version of Wireshark.
In most cases this is the version you should use.

      * The Old Stable release is an older official version of Wireshark
which is still supported. You may be required to use this, for example if
your organization has strict software approval policies.

      * The Development version is used for testing new features. Use
this if you need one of those features."

The download page says 1.12.3 is the current Stable release and 1.10.12
is the current Old Stable release.

Also request you to confirm which release is having upp,

No release provides it:

ranap megaco and iuup protocols.

1.10.x and 1.12.x provide all of them. 1.12.x releases might support
more protocol features than 1.10.x releases.
