Hi Jeff, Thanks for the heads up - I have obtained a 300 G SSD that I will experiment with. I will let you know if I find the same result. Richard suggested using XFS and putting the metadata onto the SSD. I have never worked with XFS before so if you are anyone else has any experience with splitting metadata from an XFS file system to a different drive from the data, guidance would be excellent!! Thanks again for helping me work this issue through! -John On Thu, Dec 13, 2012 at 4:17 PM, Jeff Morriss <jeff.morriss.ws () gmail com>wrote:

IIRC they had tried them and found them slower than old-fashioned high-speed disks for continuous writing. ______________________________**______________________________** _______________ Sent via: Wireshark-dev mailing list <wireshark-dev () wireshark org> Archives: http://www.wireshark.org/**lists/wireshark-dev<http://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-dev> Unsubscribe: https://wireshark.org/mailman/**options/wireshark-dev<https://wireshark.org/mailman/options/wireshark-dev> mailto:wireshark-dev-request@**wireshark.org<wireshark-dev-request () wireshark org> ?subject=**unsubscribe
