I was reading the 1.6.1 release notes from http://www.wireshark.org/docs/relnotes/wireshark-1.6.1.html, and noticed the following under "Known Problems": The 64-bit Windows installer does not ship with libsmi. (Win64 development page) Is this still applicable? I'm still working on 32-bit Windows, so I don't know for certain, but I seem to recall someone compiling libsmi for Windows 64-bit. Plus, it is mentioned as supported under http://wiki.wireshark.org/Development/Win64 and it's available in the latest packages directory here: http://anonsvn.wireshark.org/wireshark-win64-libs/tags/2011-06-27/packages/
That's still the case for 1.6. I updated libsmi in the trunk (including adding a 64-bit version) a few weeks ago but it's based on an unreleased version of libsmi.
Also under "Known Problems" is this: Character echo pauses in Capture Filter field in Capture Options. (Bug 5356) ... yet that same item is also listed under the "Bug Fixes section.
